National Television Awards 2018: See The Full List Of Nominees

The shortlist of nominees for this year’s National Television Awards has been revealed and as of today (Tuesday 9 January), fans can cast their vote to decide who wins. 

Returning for their 23rd year, the NTAs celebrate reality television, dramas, talkshows and soaps, and remain one of the very few places where ‘Game Of Thrones’ goes up against ‘Call The Midwife’.

‘Love Island’, ‘The Great British Bake Off’, ‘Broadchurch’ and ‘Strictly Come Dancing’ are also among the nominees, while Ant and Dec lead the TV Presenter category – one they have triumphed in for 16 years in a row. 

The duo’s programme ‘Saturday Night Takeaway’ is also one of five shows nominated for the inaugural Bruce Forsyth Entertainment Award.

Dermot O’Leary is returning to host the event, which will take place at London’s O2 on Tuesday 23 January. The ceremony will be broadcast live on ITV.

Neil Gaiman and Terry Pratchett superfans, prepare to be unbelievably excited

Neil Gaiman has given us many good screen adaptations of his booksStardust, Coraline and American Gods are all the progeny of his frankly obscenely rich imagination, but the upcoming Good Omens will be the first adaptation for screen of his and the late Sir Terry Pratchett’s cult hit (although there is a cracking BBC radio version).

David Tennant couldn’t care less about the Doctor Who gender debate

The internet has a lot of feelings about the next Doctor, who just so happens to be a woman. Gasp! 

But, David Tennant has weighed in on all the chatter and, well, he thinks Jodie Whittaker is the perfect choice. 

“I’m delighted. She’s been on Broadchurch for three seasons so I know her very well, she’s a mate of mine,” gushed Tennant, appearing on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert

He said the decision to cast Whittaker is “brilliant” and he “can’t think of someone better to join the gang.” How lovely. He added that Whittaker will take the role to a “whole new level.” 

Asked about the online backlash over the new Doctor’s gender, Tennant laughed it off. “Whenever the Doctor changes, there’s always a backlash because that’s a character that people love,” says Tennant. Read more…
