Sorry, ‘Game of Thrones’ fans, we probably won’t get ‘Winds of Winter’ in 2018 either

Ice and fire are once again at odds in the latest news of Winds of Winter, the long-awaited (and long-delayed) next installment of George R. R. Martin’s A Song of Fire and Ice saga.

The news is not good. There’s a delay in the processAgain. This time, in a manner of speaking, it’s the dragons’ fault.

In exchanging comments with fans on a recent Not a Blog post, Martin shared a detail that all but confirms we won’t be seeing Winds of Winter in 2018. Not unless there’s a miracle.

Does anyone else feel like George is mocking us at this point?

This latest round of depressing information began when a fan asked what writing Martin had planned for 2018. He responded that he was close to completing the first volume of his spin-off Targaryen family history series, Fire and BloodAnother fan asked how the timeline for that series would factor into the release of Winds of Winter.  Read more…

This ‘Game of Thrones’ fan theory may just have nailed the entire plot of Season 8

Warning: Contains both icy and fiery spoilers.

If that Maisie Williams interview slip is anything to go by, we’ve still got 14 long, hopeless months to wait before the final Game of Thrones season airs.

That doesn’t mean it’s too early to start making predictions, though. With filming well underway and the cast constantly being asked about the show in interviews, the clues have already started rolling in.

Over on the Game of Thrones subreddit, the theory engine is still churning just as strong as ever.

Call your bannerman: A ‘Game of Thrones’ iOS game is coming

In the Game of Thrones, you win or you die. Or maybe you tap on your touch screen to try again.

HBO and game developers Behaviour Interactive and GAEA Technology just announced their partnership to create a strategy iOS game based on the TV series. There aren’t many details on exactly what the game will be, but Game of Thrones is ripe for adaptations into actual gaming worlds.

I mean, it’s already in the title, right?

One thing we do know is that it’ll be a “free-to-play” mobile game. Now, those words are usually enough to send many running for the hills with PTSD flashbacks to Farmville.

‘Game of Thrones’ star Sophie Turner is a tattooed badass in new film trailer for ‘Josie’

Winter may be coming, but Sansa has clearly decided to take a break from the cold to get some much-needed sun.

SEE ALSO: Maisie Williams will be Sophie Turner’s bridesmaid because Stark sisters stick together

In the above trailer for Josie, a tattooed Sophie Turner plays a new arrival in a southern U.S. town.

The trailer doesn’t give massive amounts away, but there are plenty of moody shots of characters glaring at each other, some ominous music and a good few hints that most of the people in the town have a secret or two hiding in their pasts.

Go get ’em, Sansa. Read more…

‘Game Of Thrones’ Creators To Make New ‘Star Wars’ Film Series

Goodbye, dragons. Hello, droids.

David Benioff and D.B. Weiss, the creators of ‘Game of Thrones’, are going to write and produce a “Star Wars” film series, StarWars.com announced Tuesday.

The series will take place in a galaxy far, far away, but will not be tied to the trilogy being developed by “The Last Jedi” filmmaker Rian Johnson or the episodic Skywalker saga.

“David and Dan are some of the best storytellers working today,” Kathleen Kennedy, president of Lucasfilm, said in the announcement. “Their command of complex characters, depth of story and richness of mythology will break new ground and boldly push Star Wars in ways I find incredibly exciting.”

“In the summer of 1977 we traveled to a galaxy far, far away, and we’ve been dreaming of it ever since,” Benioff and Weiss said in a joint statement. “We are honored by the opportunity, a little terrified by the responsibility, and so excited to get started as soon as the final season of Game of Thrones is complete.”

Though some may be excited about the news, people on Twitter were a bit skeptical.

Many fans were concerned that tropes from the popular HBO show, such as incest and rape, would seep into the ‘Star Wars’ universe.

In July, HBO also announced that Benioff and Weiss were going to work on its upcoming Civil War drama ‘Confederate’, a show whose premise immediately sparked criticism. This prompted others on Twitter to question the decision to have them write and produce the new ‘Star Wars’ series.

Some Twitter users were disappointed that a woman or a person of color wasn’t chosen for the role, especially since Kennedy has mentioned in the past that she would like to see a woman direct a ‘Star Wars’ movie (though the announcement did not say whether Benioff and Weiss would direct the series they will create).

There is no release date as of yet, which we’re sure is making both Jon Snow and Kylo Ren incredibly sad.

Peak Star Wars? Why we could be in for a galaxy of bad content.

Star Wars’ galaxy far, far away contains endless possibilities for adventure — and that presents a problem. The first person to run into this problem was George Lucas, several days after he started writing about it.

Lucas’ first-ever scribbled notes on his space fantasy project followed a “Jedi-Bendu” character, then called Mace Windy, as he hopped from starship to planet to starship to planet. The potential scenery was limitless. But with no understanding of Mace’s motivation, Lucas stopped writing on page 2. He had the Jedi; he just hadn’t nailed down a compelling why. Why did this story have to exist? What was it trying to say? Read more…
