We now interrupt The Black Panther Show to take a moment for Red Sparrow, Francis Lawrence’s upcoming Russian spy thriller starring Jennifer Lawrence. Reviews found Sparrow to be mildly interesting if not the edge-of-the-seat thriller the filmmakers thought they had, but it’s another powerhouse performance from Lawrence, one of Hollywood’s reigning stars.

As Time’s Up battles for women’s equal pay, advocates can’t ignore that the wage gap is even more glaring for women of colorViola Davis reiterated this on Wednesday in a conversation with Women in the World CEO Tina Brown.
“We get probably a tenth of what a Caucasian woman gets,” Davis said regarding actresses of color. “And I’m number one on the call sheet.”

Disney’s Pixar has just released a new trailer for Incredibles 2, set to release on Jun. 15. The sequel comes 14 years after the original film, with Bob, Helen, Violet, Dash and Jack-Jack making their return.

Black Panther is currently rocking a 97 percent on Rotten Tomatoes, the same score The Incredibles leveled out at in 2004. To date, the highest rated live-action superhero movie in the MCU was 2008’s first Iron Man (it hit 94 percent, as did DC’s The Dark Knight later that year). Most Marvel movies earned fairly high ratings, including last year’s Thor: Ragnarok and Spider-Man: Homecoming (both at 92 percent), with the historical low going to Thor: The Dark World (66 percent)Logan and Wonder Woman both scored high in 2017, scoring big victories for non-Avengers Marvel and DC overall. Sony Pictures and the Peter Rabbit filmmakershave apologised for making light of allergies following calls to boycott the movie, which hit U.S. cinemas over the weekend.

A scene in the new adaptation of Beatrix Potter’s classic shows character Tom McGregor, who’s allergic to blackberries, being pelted with the berries by Peter and his friends. One of the berries lands in Tom’s mouth, and he has to use an EpiPen to treat his allergic reaction.
The scene prompted a massive outcry on social media, and many parents called on people to boycott the film, which they deemed to find “humor in bullying” people living with allergies. Read more…
